London, England -
Base 01 Ltd, an integrated marketing communications agency, has bought out the shares of the incumbent VC, Montagu Capital. Montagu invested in the firm in 1999 when the current management team completed a Management Buyout (MBO) of the firm from its founder. Pembridge acted as lead advisors to Base 01.
Base 01 is led by John Stanton and Richard Bush, joint managing directors, who led the buyout from Dowell & Associates. The agency specialises in communications for clients in the "considered purchase" market. Clients include Abbey National, Citrix Systems, Fujitsu, the London Stock Exchange and Saab.
John Stanton said,"Business performance has been strong recently and there was a need to make more shares available for management and staff."
Otto Stevens, the Pembridge Partner who led the deal added, "Base 01 is an extremely well-run business with excellent prospects so there was no shortage of banks willing to support the VC's exit. Most creative services firms need to maximise the available equity for their people."
