Manchester, England - Pembridge collaborated with Creative Industries Development Services (CIDS) on a series of workshops aimed at bringing together creative businesses in the greater Manchester area to share insight. Under the heading of "Loop Academy" (following on from the successful "Loop" networking seminars) so far 3 series of several workshops have been organised. The audience consists of owners and managers of creative firms and the issues addressed range from branding, IP, new business development to funding & finance.
Pembridge has been actively involved in all the Loop Academy series organised to date and participated in the "How To Attract An Investor" session in August 2007, as well previous sessions in February and April 2007. In the session, Pembridge explores the issues and obstacles associated with creative firms raising finance from investors. The key questions that are important when considering to raise finance from an investor are: firstly, why am I raising the funding and where am I in my business growth cycle? This determines which funders to approach. Secondly, what are investors looking for? Each investor is looking for something different: profit, involvement or fun. Knowing what you need in terms of money and advice helps finding the right investor. The third and last question then really is: how to present myself to an investor? Here Pembridge talks from the point of view of an investor, having made its own investments in creative firms. Pembridge illustrates and clarifies the process of raising finance with concrete examples and do's and don'ts.
Andrew Birley from CIDS said: "Pembridge brings the specific creative industry expertise to the table that is necessary to appeal to owners and managers of creative firms. They are very skilled at creating an atmosphere in which owners feel confident to discuss the challenges they face, amongst peers and competitors".
