Pembridge Partners has supported a new management training business which launches this month having won a major public sector training contract against strong competition.
The new company – Kirkbright - was founded in March by the creative industry management expert Greg Orme, formerly Chief Executive of the Centre for Creative Business (a joint venture between London Business School and University of the Arts London). Kirkbright delivers business training programmes to the management teams of creative businesses.
The new business beat off competition from 16 established training organisations to win the right to deliver the “Accidental Managers” programme which starts this week. The programme is funded by Northwest Vision and Media in partnership with Skillset, and supported by the North West Regional Development Agency.
“Accidental Managers” will support the growth of rising stars in the UK’s converging digital, TV and radio businesses in the North West of England. Pembridge Partners supported Greg Orme on the formation of Kirkbright Limited and the two companies plan to continue working closely together.
Orme said: “I’ve known the founding partners at Pembridge for many years now and it was natural for me to team up with them when I launched my own venture.”
Pembridge Partner Rose Lewis said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to support this new venture. Our work focuses on one-to-one mentoring of companies, investment and corporate finance. Our close links with Kirkbright allow us to offer a holistic offering across every stage of business. We have absolute confidence that Greg’s first-class credentials and track record put him in a great position to deliver management training in this sector. Kirkbright’s early success speaks for itself.”
Accidental Managers is a new management development programme to address the training needs of ‘rising stars’ from creative, technical and production backgrounds who find themselves managing people and heading up teams as their company grows.
Orme added: “I’m excited that Kirkbright and its team of world-class experts, trainers and mentors are able to get the chance to help the next generation of digital industry leaders. Obviously, I’m also very pleased that we’ve managed to win a big, high-profile contract so early in the life of Kirkbright. Bearing in mind the tough economic environment, and the massive competition for this contract, it bodes well for the future.”
